No One Left Behind: Canadian Idol Announces Innovative Last Chance Audition Stop on the 2008 Tour

– Now anyone, anywhere in Canada can audition via online auditions, April 14-25 –
Toronto, ON (April 14, 2008) – The day after Canadian Idol’s 2008 cross-country audition tour wrapped up in Toronto, CTV announced that the search for Canada’s next Idol is heading into cyberspace, allowing singers in any part of the country with access to a computer to audition for this year’s competition. It’s only the second time in the history of the Idol franchise that competitors have had the opportunity to audition online, marking yet another North American first for Canadian Idol. By extending the breadth of the national search, producers are now offering every eligible Canadian the opportunity for exposure and a chance to start a professional music career, no matter where they live. Beginning today and lasting until Friday, April 25 at 5 p.m. ET, online Idol competitors simply need to upload video tryouts to the Canadian Idol website, idol.CTV.ca. (more…)

CTV Announces Additional Canadian Idol Season 6 Audition Tour Stops

The Canadian Idol audition tour continues! With the first three audition stops complete and as Winnipeg prepares to receive the show at St. Vital Centre on February 23-24, CTV now announces the final venue details for the cross-the-country tour through mid-April.

Toronto, ON (January 3, 2008) – CTV has announced details of the sixth cross-country audition tour for Canada’s #1 Summer Series, beginning this month, as the 2008 Audition Tour gets set to kick off Saturday, January 26 at the West Edmonton Mall in Edmonton. As announced last night on eTalk , the 10-city tour will cross the country, hitting malls in nine more cities through mid-April. In a Canadian Idol first, the hometown of reigning Idol Brian Melo – Hamilton, Ontario – has been added as a stop on the 2008 Audition Tour. (more…)

Unleash Your Inner Idol: Canadian Idol Audition Tour Begins Jan. 26

CTV announced today that Canada’s favourite summertime obsession and #1 summer series will return for a sixth season in 2008. Canadian Idol is getting ready to hit the road beginning Saturday, January 26, 2008 on the first stop of the series’ sixth cross-country audition tour. The 2008 Canadian Idol Audition Tour will visit 10 cities in seven provinces from coast to coast, including a brand-new city never visited before.

The Season Five audition tour earlier this year saw 10,000 Canadian singers audition in a competition that ultimately saw SONY BMG MUSIC (CANADA) Inc. recording artist Brian Melo named the 2007 Champion. (more…)

Canadian Idol Love Strikes Again - Brian Melo Confirms Romance with Tara Oram

Canadian Idol winner Brian Melo admits to eTalk that he and fellow finalist Tara Oram are indeed a couple, confirming rumours spreading since the end of the Idol season. It’s the first time Melo admits to the relationship that has been the subject of speculation for months. Tonight, the Season 5 champ tells eTalk exclusively about the romance:

“I’ll set it straight. We are together, we are a couple. I feel like we have something very special”.

Since September, the couple has been spending time together regularly as Melo has been hard at work on his debut album (which dropped last week) and Top 3 concert tour, which heads West this week. Having recently joined the Canadian Idol Top 3 in Newfoundland to perform during the tour’s St. John’s stop, Oram took the opportunity to make the trip with Melo to Hare Bay, NL to meet her family. Oram and Melo have also been seen spending time together in Melo’s hometown of Hamilton, ON since Canadian Idol ended at the end of the Summer.

Rock Wins Out Over Country as Canada Celebrates a New Canadian Idol

Millions of fans voiced their opinions and Hamilton, Ontario resident, Brian Melo (25) took the Canadian Idol crown at last night’s season finale.  This was the very first time for an Ontario competitor to win the crown even though the most entries come from the Toronto area every year.

Since I will be posting a CTV press release on the Season Finale’s highlights, I would like to take this time to post my own observations of the whole Canadian Idol process.  (more…)
